a typical fijian vista.

lautoka market. fresh fruit and veg abound after the passage.

sometimes the captain gets angry, so i made him this card on his birthday to cheer him up (nod to ayla for the inspiration).

sometimes, if you're lucky, the boat is balanced perfectly and you can just lay back whilst "steering." i realized this one night around 3 am. shortly afterwards i was dancing to madonna "holiday" and celebrating my newfound freedom. seriously, dancing in the moonlight on a boat in the pacific to classic madonna.

a full moon is on the rise...

  2. Hi Mark, I'm Robert, a friend of Tracy. She turned me on to your blog. I'm thinking about relocating to that general area of the globe. Is the humidity in Fiji or northern New Zealand as intolerable as it is in Indiana? That's a big deal for me.

  4. robert, you totally should relocate here if you're into stunning scenery and really really nice people (both nz and fiji). humidity, hmm. well fiji is typically tropical and has its moments of humidity. it rains a lot here. there is, however, a dry and a wet side (the west side being the dry one which is where i am and it's usually quite pleasant - 80s sunny and breezy with the occassional rain storm and some humidity accompanying) Northern NZ is similar only less tropical obviously (sub tropical). there can be lots of rain but also loads of sunshine. generally humidity is not so bad. i'd say if you can handle indiana summers you would be fine over here. the breeze coming in from the ocean helps a lot in both fiji and NZ. come over for a visit and check it out! good luck with your plans...
